There’s No Babbel, Rosetta Stone or Busuu Thai Course – Try These Alternatives Instead!

Does Babbel Have Thai

Babbel, Rosetta Stone and Busuu are great language learning resources. But unfortunately, they haven’t yet created courses for all the languages we’d like to learn. And Thai is one of those languages..

That doesn’t have to be a negative thing though. You might not have Babbel, Rosetta Stone or Busuu, but there are still some other great options that will help you learn Thai..

These alternatives will have you well on your way to accomplishing your language goals!.

Sometimes when learning a language we get really caught up in the rules. We want to know how to use perfect grammar and how to conjugate verbs correctly. But for some people, the best way to learn is to just try speaking a language.

While learning Thai with Pimsleur you’ll receive tons of speaking and listening practice. It’s definitely geared towards those who want to focus on oral language learning, rather than learning the rules of grammar inside and out.

Because this course doesn’t focus as heavily on grammar it might not be as useful to an intermediate or advanced learner. But it’s definitely a great starting point for someone who is just getting familiar with Thai.

You’re sure to enjoy the logical and effective way the course builds on previous material as well as the thoughtful imagery and cultural references that are included in the course content!

A Pimsleur subscription is pretty reasonably priced at $14.95 a month for a basic subscription and $19.95 a month for a premium subscription.

ThaiPod101 is another great resource for total beginners. If you’ve just recently started learning Thai then you’ll find the ThaiPod101 content very helpful. As you advance through the levels you’ll notice that English is used less and less. But unfortunately the amount of content also thins out when you get to the higher levels.

This course has some cool features such as the record feature which lets you practice your speaking ability by recording yourself repeating the provided phrases. You can then listen to the recording and assess your accent, etc. There is some good audio content in this app and you’ll get exposed to a lot of Thai dialogue while working your way through the lessons.

ThaiPod101 is organized a bit differently than other language courses. Lessons don’t exactly follow a linear trajectory but they are grouped by difficulty and the content within the lessons is of pretty high quality.

All in all, this is a good option for beginners and could be even more beneficial when used in conjunction with other language apps. A basic ThaiPod101 plan is only $8 a month, a premium plan is $25, and a premium-plus plan is $45 a month.

June Campaign Sale! Use code 6MONTH2024 and get 45% off the 6+ Month plans. Get access to the 6, 12, or 24 months of Premium or Premium PLUS. With Premium PLUS, you also get access to your very own teacher! See details on the website. Offer ends on 6/21/24.

italki is unique because it’s the only course on this list that provides you with a live tutor. If you learn most effectively by receiving direct feedback and guidance then this is absolutely the best option for you.

italki itself doesn’t have any course material that will help you learn Thai. It’s just the platform on which you will be able to find a Thai speaking tutor. Once you’ve found a tutor, you schedule a class at a time that is convenient for you. Each class will be different depending on your tutor, so choose wisely!

Luckily, there’s a ton of information available on each tutor. For example, if you would prefer to learn from a native Thai speaker, you can definitely make that part of your criteria. And keep your eyes peeled for tutors who have received positive reviews from other students!

It can cost anywhere between $4 and $60 an hour. But on average lessons will be about $10 an hour.

Lingopolo is one of the most popular free Thai courses. Since it’s free, there’s no harm in trying it out and you might even be pleasantly surprised! All you have to do to get started is create an account on the Lingopolo website.

While other courses on this list like ThaiPod101 are better for beginners, Lingopolo actually has a lot of challenging content that is better suited to an advanced learner. If you want to learn the Thai script, this course will push you to do that (and you actually will have to learn it in order to follow the course material).

The Lingopolo courses are divided into lots of different themes and the lessons are accompanied by quizzes that will help you test and retain your knowledge. There are also a good amount of audio recordings that are more challenging. These can help you become better at understanding the Thai language when it is spoken at its natural pace.

Final Thoughts:.

The above courses are four really great alternatives to Babbel, Rosetta Stone and Busuu. We hope that at least one of these courses sounds like a good fit for you and can get you started on your goal to learn Thai!
