Using one of the platforms for finding a tutor or language exchange partner, practice the speaking activities below.

Partner Speaking Exercise:

  • Practice stem-changing verbs in context and learn new verbs with a partner using this list here. Choose 5 to 7 new stem-changing verbs. Have a partner pick one of your new verbs, a subject, and an object, and you must try to form a sentence. For example: yo, empezar (to start), escuela. Have your Spanish-speaking partner correct you, and then make the sentence again using at least two more subject pronouns.  

Independent Speaking Exercise:

  • Practice stem-changing verbs independently using this list here. Choose 5 to 7 new stem-changing verbs. Go through each verb and make a simple, small sentence you can practice with each subject pronoun, for example, yo empiezo la escuela mañana, empiezas la escuela mañana, ella empieza la escuela mañana, etc. Make sure to say each conjugation aloud.
