MiVoca
Summary
MiVoca is a web-based vocabulary tool that helps language learners keep all their vocabulary learning in one place. It addresses a common problem in language learning: vocabulary scattered across multiple tools. Rather than juggling translators, dictionaries, and flashcard apps, MiVoca streamlines everything into a single, personal system. It’s designed for upper-beginners and above and supports multiple languages including English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Greek, Dutch, Esperanto and Swedish.
MiVoca helps you build your own dictionary from words you encounter in videos, articles, lessons, and daily life. So instead of learning vocabulary from preset word lists, it offers further practice and strengthens what you learn from your tutors, courses, or podcasts. MiVoca utilizes an AI-powered translator, where you type or say a word to get its meaning, alternate meanings, and related words, and save them. The words you save are then moved to the ‘My Words’ section, which works as your personal dictionary. Here, you can set your own categories and mark which words are more important or need more focus. The system prioritizes the words you mark as important and offers targeted practice for them through flashcards, sentence fill exercises, context-based stories, dialogues, and pronunciation practice. Once mastered, you can remove the word by marking it complete and proceed to the next.
MiVoca isn’t suitable for absolute beginners; it is ideal for those at level A2 and higher, who already have a basic vocabulary. While it isn’t a complete language course, it’s a very helpful complementary tool to help learners build and retain vocabulary.
