New articles covering current events in China and abroad are published daily, and the difficulty levels range from HSK1 to HSK6+. Additional features include audio recordings, a pop-up dictionary, grammar notes, flashcards, and more. Each article is graded and categorized by difficulty level, ranging from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hanyu_Shuiping_Kaoshi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-lasso-id=\"83823\">HSK<\/a>&nbsp;1 to HSK 6+. As you progress to more advanced material, the articles get longer and more complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a ton of content; new articles are released daily, and they\u2019re actually interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.shortpixel.ai\/client\/q_glossy,ret_img\/https:\/\/www.alllanguageresources.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/image5-258w259h.png\" alt=\"Promotional graphic showing that The Chairman's Bao has 6,008 lessons and 107,286 global users. \"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"_2cv3odf9rzp1\"><\/a>Content<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Interesting, engaging material is worth a lot when it comes to learning a language. You could buy the greatest, most detailed and clearly-written textbook on Chinese in existence and still struggle to learn the language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn\u2019t to say that textbooks or drill-centric apps like&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pleco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-lasso-id=\"83824\">Pleco<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.ankiweb.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-lasso-id=\"83825\">Anki<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alllanguageresources.com\/memrise-review-good-beginners-dont-overuse\/#more-114\" data-lasso-id=\"83826\">Memrise<\/a>&nbsp;don\u2019t have their merit, but including practice that helps you engage with the language in a more meaningful way can be worth a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TCB does a great job of curating interesting content \u2014 it\u2019s enough to increase motivation to study, and learning words in a memorable context makes it easier to commit them to memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.shortpixel.ai\/client\/q_glossy,ret_img\/https:\/\/www.alllanguageresources.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/image6-516w353h.png\" alt=\"Example of news article thumbnails in TCB search.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are more attention-grabbing titles than I could ever list, but some favorites include \u201cChicken Headwear Takes Off for Year of the Rooster,\u201d \u201cIndonesian Man Builds Helicopter to Avoid Traffic,\u201d and \u201cPeruvian Man Marries Tree.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t worry, it\u2019s not all fluff and silly titles. The mammoth library of news stories covers plenty of more serious topics as well. Most articles are related to current events in China, but world news is also covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The amount of content is an area in which TCB really tops its competitors. The backlog is&nbsp;<em>huge<\/em>, and there are new articles posted every day. There\u2019s enough new material each week that you won\u2019t have to dig into the older posts if you don\u2019t want to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fact that TCB is able to create interesting content for HSK1 and HSK2 levels is really amazing and can make learning the basics engaging and fun. They do a great job of producing shorter and simpler articles that are still worth reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.shortpixel.ai\/client\/q_glossy,ret_img\/https:\/\/www.alllanguageresources.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/image9-471w195h.png\" alt=\"An example of an HSK1-level news article on The Chairman's Bao.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The above is an example of an HSK1 news article. It\u2019s worth noting that even these low-level articles may be too difficult for some beginning students of Chinese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If this is too difficult, I\u2019d recommend starting out with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alllanguageresources.com\/chinese\/\" data-lasso-id=\"83827\">other materials<\/a>&nbsp;before transitioning to TCB after a few months of study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where TCB really shines is with its more advanced content, which is longer and even more interesting. For learners that have reached an upper-elementary or intermediate level, native-level material will still be too complicated, but you\u2019ll be able to find plenty of accessible and stimulating content around the HSK4 level and higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.shortpixel.ai\/client\/q_glossy,ret_img\/https:\/\/www.alllanguageresources.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/image3-389w287h.png\" alt=\"This article is at the HSK4 level on The Chairman's Bao.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an example of an article at the HSK4 level. Articles at this level and higher can give great insights into Chinese culture and current events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"_l8ioujl6vxwb\"><\/a>App Layout and Design<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Both the online version and the app are easy to use. With each, you can search for articles and sort by level, date, and topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mobile app has five main pages: Home, Lessons, Videos, Legends, Bookmarks, the Learning Hub, and Blog. You\u2019ll find a list of keywords and their definitions, some grammar explanations, idioms, and a list of proper nouns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.shortpixel.ai\/client\/q_glossy,ret_img\/https:\/\/www.alllanguageresources.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/image10-396w289h.png\" alt=\"This is the grammar explanation feature available with each TCB article.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alllanguageresources.com\/best-chinese-grammar-book-beginner-intermediate-students\/\" data-lasso-id=\"83830\">better ways to study grammar<\/a>, but TCB\u2019s grammar explanations use examples from the text to teach different concepts and are actually pretty good. It\u2019s a nice feature that adds some extra value to the resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"_lsyqwxewgz0d\"><\/a>Character Stroke and Writing Practice<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This feature adds a lot of value to TCB.
